Often Called the "20th Century Audubon"!
Dr. T. Gilbert Pearson, renowned ornithologist and former president of the Audubon Society once said of Rex Brasher's paintings "They are the most beautiful bird paintings I have ever seen!"
"Mr. Brasher's loving care bestowed in each hand-colored plate is in the tradition of a hundred years earlier... Brasher's Birds and Trees belongs in a special category that is unique. Brasher had not written a great deal but his pages are interlarded with poetic imagery, often printed in contrasting italic or manuscript-style type.... His works stands apart on the sideline of time not to be judged with his contemporaries, nor indeed to be criticized. It is simply Rex Brasher." (Yale/Ripley)
Rex Brasher is probably America's greatest painter of birds, painting almost twice as many North American Birds as Louise Agassiz Fuertes or John James Audubon.
